Kristin Arksey
February 1, 1923 – November 30, 2007
On Friday November 30, 2007 at Lions Prairie Manor in Portage la Prairie, MB, Kristin Arksey formerly of Langruth, MB, aged 84 passed away peacefully.
Kristin was born and raised in Langruth, living in the area until 2005. On February 3, 1945, she married William Cecil Arksey. They raised three daughters, Kathryn, Susan and Nancy, on their farm south of Langruth. Music was a major passion of Kristin’s and she began playing for church at age 14. She was pianist for the Royal Purple, numerous weddings and funerals as well as providing accompaniment at various concerts. Her garden, especially the gladioli, was a source of pride. Leisure hours were spent sewing, knitting, crocheting, and cross-stitching. She was an active member of many community organizations including the OORP, the UCW, Langruth United Church, and the Austin Thresherman’s Reunion Ladies Auxiliary.
She will be sadly missed by one sister Pearl Forsley of Neepawa; two daughters and their families; Susan (Lloyd) Ching of Darlingford, MB, Melanie, Kristin, Garnet; Nancy Arksey of Winnipeg, Gregory and Sara; one son-in-law James Ramage of Olds AB, Daena, Jaeme (Trevor) Redgewell, their children Travis, Kiera and Ezra; Andrea (Tyler) Barker, numerous brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Kristin was predeceased by her husband, Cecil Arksey (1992), her eldest daughter, Kathryn Ramage (1992), her parents, Bjorn and Jonina Halldorson, and eight siblings.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Langruth Grace Lutheran Church with Reverend George Cargo officiating and Sharron Arksey presided at the organ. Interment followed at Lakeland Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kerry Arksey, Barry Arksey, Stephen Soos, Jim Bohm, Ron Jackson and Jim Rinn.
