Joseph Wilbert Sutherland

     Passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Seven Regions Health Centre, Bert age 62 years of Sandy Bay First Nation, Manitoba.

     He resided in Sandy Bay and received his education at the Sandy Bay Residential School and later went to Red River Community College and completed his electrical course. He worked for Thompson Electric of Amaranth for many years. He also worked as a carpenter and also as a labourer for various farms. He had three hobbies that he loved, hunting, playing pool and raising his grandchildren.

     Bert was predeceased by his parents George and Eliza Sutherland; brother Clarence Sutherland; and sisters Doris, Katherine, Pearl, Betty and Virgina.

     Bert is sadly missed by wife of 41 years Christina Roulette; sons Calvin (Bernadine) and Wilbert Jr.; daughters Jacqueline (Ron), Mellissa (Pierre) and Arvel (Ernest); sister Nellie Sutherland; granddaughters Renee, Nayirah, Jenis, Dimitria, Pierra, Janine and Kaydence; grandsons Blaine, Nathaniel, Dimitri, Duane, Lawrence, Wilbert and Jovin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and grandchildren.

     Wake began at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the Sandy Bay Community Complex, Sandy Bay First Nation, Manitoba.

     Funeral service was held Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Sandy Bay First Nation, Manitoba with Father Roy George Vazhaplankudiyi officiating. Interment followed in the Sandy Bay Cemetery.
