Anthony Clive (Tony) Strong

     It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, and friend on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Seven Regions Health Centre, Gladstone.

     Tony was born on November 2, 1932 to Joe and Ellen Strong. Tony was raised in the Amaranth / Sandy Bay area. He enjoyed the outdoors, riding his four- wheeler, and he especially loved spending the summer digging Seneca root. Tony had a love for stray dogs which he would often bring home. Tony worked for the C.N. Railroad right up until he retired in 1998. During the winter when he was laid off from C.N. he would fish on Lake Manitoba. He showed his sons how to fish and they still do it to this day. Tony also loved trapping. He had traps for all kinds of animals. He would often take his grandchildren to set and check his traps and the snares he set. Tony loved watching sports such as hockey and baseball. He especially loved baseball because he played ball when he was young. He never missed a world series on TV. Tony was well known and loved in the community. He would share a cup of coffee with anyone that was willing. Tony had a large family with many grandchildren. He loved to tease his grandkids and he even gave quite a few of them nicknames. He would also make up limericks for them.

      Tony leaves to mourn his passing wife Doreen; children Anthony (Marie); Brandy (Jesse), Clay, Yanni; Tongee (Trevor), Chase, Trinity, Zane; Boss (Chauntelle), Chelsea, Joey, Spencer, Jamie; Barbie (Frank), Fran; Kevin (Tanya), Reese; Jeremy (Patricia), Xiomara; Ashley (Phoebe) Charlea; Fiona, Stephen, Tyrone, Chasney, Malea; Jamie Jr., Damery, Landon; Randy (Barbara), Randall, Raquel, Rayna; Liko Rand (Dana); Stephanie (Barrett), Trista; Barry (Mavis), Chris (Larissa), Christina, Bailee; Robert (Candace), Hunter; Blair; Patsy (Sheldon), Crystal; Dacky (Inez), Michelle (Justin); Renee, Teri-Lynn; Kelly (Flora), Tammy, Miquel; Colin Mousseau (Patty); Joseph (Denise), Mia, Ayanna, Zachery; Matthew, Joshua, Jacob; Clifford (Terri), Bryce, Aaron, Alissa; Mary-Ellen Strong; two brothers Barry (Gail), and Donald (Hazel). He was predeceased by his parents Joe & Ellen Strong, grandson Jamie Desmerais, great-grandson Anthony Joseph Jr. Strong, brother Bing, sister Kay Strong. He will indeed be missed by all who knew him.

     Funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 2;00 p.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Amaranth with Father Mike Nwosu officiating. Interment followed in the Haven of Rest Cemetery, Amaranth. Pallbearers were Kevin Desmerais, Joe Mousseau, Randy Strong, Jeremy Desmerais, Boss Strong, Bobbi Strong, Chris Strong, Ashley Desmerais. Honourary pallbearers were Lawrence Desmerais, Roland Whitford, Clarence Spence, Irvin Hall, Marvin Reid, Calvin Henderson, and Edmund Fulham.
