Ella Kirrie, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away quietly on Friday, June 22, 2018 in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 92 years.
Ella was born November 9, 1925 on the farm located SW Sec28-17-12 near Tenby, MB. She attended a one room school in the Maitland District which was located next door to her parents’ farm. She attempted to start school at an early age. One day she borrowed her father’s boots and went next door to the school and proceeded to kick at the door until the teacher let her in and gave her a seat at the front. She was very social and always wanted to visit with the other students. She went through grades 1-8 and then lived on the farm with her parents until her marriage to Christopher Kirrie on August 24, 1949. They moved into the house they built in Plumas and lived there until 2013 They raised their daughter Heather, who with her husband Edwin Ginter and their children Conrad and Kirrie live in Calgary, AB. Ella was an avid gardener and loved her flowers, especially hot pink petunias and yellow tulips. She was an active member of the Plumas Legion and could also be found helping out at many events at the Plumas United Church. She loved to watch curling, baseball and hockey. At Christmas she would be up at 5:00 am to watch World Junior Hockey with her son in law Edwin and grandson Conrad. She was a loving and generous grandmother. Her grandchildren, especially Kirrie will miss her butter tarts and other treats.
Ella was predeceased by her husband Chris of 41 years; siblings Charlie (Mary), Art (Lil), Bill (Annie), Millie (Bill), Eddie (Elvina), Herb, Kay and Herman.
