Elsie Loreen Grove

The family of Elsie Loreen Grove sadly announce the passing of our sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin on November 7/2019 at the MacGregor Health Centre in MacGregor, Manitoba. Elsie was born May 22, 1928 in MacGregor to Arthur and Mildred Grove (nee Thomas) of Katrime, Manitoba.  Elsie grew up on the family farm, with 4 brothers and 2 sisters. She loved to be outdoors, often working alongside the men in the fields. playing baseball and riding horses.  Elsie, along with her mother, father and grandmother moved to MacGregor in 1957 where Elsie acquired a job with Snaiths grocery store as a clerk. 

            After that she worked with Panko's food centre as a clerk, retiring from this position. In the fall of 2017 Elsie moved to the MacGregor Health Centre where she resided at the time of her death.  In her younger years Elsie was an avid curler and was active in baseball as well.  She liked to attend the MacGregor Normac Centre, to watch curling and hockey games.  In later years she enjoyed golfing, watching her Blue Jays play (although she was not impressed with them in the last year) and watched curling - always cheering against Mr Gushue from NFLD.

            Elsie was predeceased by her parents-Arthur 1965, Mildred 1983, infant brother Robert in 1926, brothers Garnet 2017, Rolly 2013, Hugh 1975 and one sister Dorothy in 2002, as well as one nephew Gordon Smith in 2009, Sister in law  Gladys and brother in law Percy. 

            Elsie leaves to mourn her passing, one sister Elizabeth (James Morris) of Virden and one brother Doug (Joan) of Victoria, British Columbia, sisters in law Olive Grove of MacGregor, and Sandra Grove of Elgin, 19 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews as well as many cousins.
            As per Elsie's wishes there will be no formal funeral with private burial at a later date.  If friends so desire, donations may be made to the MacGregor Health Centre where Elsie spent her last few years under the excellent care of the staff there, or a charity of your choice.
