Kathryn (Maendel) Baer

Kathryn was born to Jacob and Rebecca Maendel, the seventh of eleven children.  Her family lived in New Rosedale Colony and later moved to Fairholme when she was 9 years old.

Kathryn always loved to tell her children what a beautiful childhood she had. She spoke fondly of her love for school, her teachers, and how she enjoyed playing in the woods in Fairholme with her many playmates who became lifelong friends.    

She found the Lord at age 17 and He became her Rock and Refuge through the many storms of life. At age 23 she married the love of her life, Elton S. Baer and moved to Airport Colony where together they sought and served the Lord with all their hearts.  For 23 years she served as Essenshul Ankela, there she impacted children with the importance of keeping eternity in mind. Early in 2015 she moved with her husband to Sydney, MB where she lived and loved till the Lord called her home after a very brief fight with cancer.

Grandma had a deep love for people. She treated all people with honor and respect, and it deeply grieved her when people made fun of another human being. Grandma had a positive cheerful outlook on life and sought to be an encouragement and blessing to others with a friendly smile for everyone she met. Her deep faith in Jesus shone as she clung to the promises in the Word as a treasured jewel.  She especially strove in prayer for her children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren were a source of great joy; seeing each of them as uniquely different and had a precious relationship with them all. She sought to instill Godly principles of seeking the Lord with all of their hearts every day. Grandma we will miss you and the impact you had on our lives.

Also left to mourn her passing are her brothers and sisters Rebecca (John), Eva (Ben), Miriam (Elias), Rachel (Paul), Jacob (Anna), Leah (Joe), Ruth (David), Sue (Guy), Claudia (Chris), Tim, (Esther), and many sisters and brothers in law, nieces nephews cousins and many friends.
