Marjorie Jeanetta (Sylvester) Manns

Marjorie Jeanetta Manns (Sylvester), 82, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the MacGregor Health Centre. She was born May 26, 1936 to Edward & Lavinia Sylvester at Gregg, Manitoba; she was one of 11 children. She was raised in Sidney, Manitoba where she later received her education.

Marj later worked as an MTS telephone operator in Sidney and then on July 29, 1954 married Garth Manns. Marj and Garth lived on the family farm at Firdale, Manitoba where they raised three children. Over the years she belonged to the Firdale ladies Aid, Eastern Star, Manitoba Auxiliary Ladies Group, and the United Church Choir. Marj also enjoyed curling, attending old time dances, and many card games with friends. In 1994, after losing Garth she moved to Carberry where she enjoyed bowling, golfing, clogging and floor shuffle.

In 1999 Marjorie married Jim Price and they shared 4 years together. In 2016 she moved to Victoria Place in MacGregor, Manitoba, and in March of 2017 moved into the MacGregor Health Centre. Marjorie enjoyed her flowers, family, and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marjorie was predeceased by husbands Garth Manns and Jim Price; mother in law Thelma Price; parents Edward & Lavinia Sylvester; Charles & May Manns; Sylvester siblings Myrtle (Fred) Whitelaw, Bill (Dolly), Dorothy (Ray) James, Jim, Isobel (Keith) Howie, Web, Marion; sisters in law Tina and Janet Sylvester; Manns siblings Jim (Irene), Harold (Matilda), Tom (Freda), Len (Beulah), Albert (Annie), Clarence, Florence (Albert) Duncan, Eva (Lyle) Duncan, May Lunn, and Lyle Waterhouse.

Marjorie is survived by daughter Brenda (Gordon) Nelson; Jeffrey (Cathryn), their children Brooklyn and Hannah, Corey (Ashley) their children Tanner, Ali, and Whitley, Bryce (Janette) their children Landen, Caleb, and Zane; son Charles (Joan) Manns; their children Craig (Morgan), Jason (Serena), and Jessica (Eric); son Alan (Cheryl) Manns; their children Darcy (Andrea), Devon (Carmen), and Brett; siblings Ken (Jo), Gerald (Maureen), Donald (Helen), Henry (Margie); sisters in law Diane Sylvester and Thelma Waterhouse (Manns); brother in law Harvey Lunn and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marjorie’s family would like to thank the Portage and District General Hospital for their excellent care. A special thanks to the staff at MacGregor Health Centre for going above and beyond, making her feel at home, and for delivering exceptional care during her final journey. Marj was a bright light wherever she went with her infectious laugh and loving personality; she will be greatly missed by many.
