Mary Doerksen

            Passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019 at the Lions Prairie Manor, Portage la Prairie at the age of 91 years.

            Mother, Mary (Martens) Doerksen was born at Aberdeen Saskatchewan on June 27, 1928. She moved to Orley, Saskatchewan as a child and spent her school days there. Mary was baptized in Orley when she was 18 years old.

            She worked at various jobs around Tisdale, Saskatchewan as an adult.

            On June 10, 1947 Mary married Abe Doerksen at Orley and together they had 6 children, 4 boys and 2 girls.

            In 1949 Abe and Mary moved to Altona, MB and resided there for 17 years. In 1976 they moved to Lavenham to farm for 2 years after which they moved to the J.P. Wiebe farm at MacGregor and worked there for 17 years. Mary later worked for 10 years at various jobs and also at 2 potato processing plants.

            After retiring Mary moved to Austin, MB to the Evergreen Apartments. Mary was a talented seamstress and enjoyed gardening and flowers.

            Mary was predeceased by her parents John & Maria Martens; brother John Martens; and stepfather George Dyck. She is survived by her children; grandchildren; great grandchildren; brother George; sisters Helen, Olga and Agnes.
