Morley entered into rest August 16, 2019 at Third Crossing Manor, Gladstone at the age of 85 years.
He was born at Edrans, the 3rd son of Mack and Margaret (Bales) McLaughlin on December 7, 1933. At a young age, the family moved to Amaranth to homestead. As a young man Morley worked farm jobs as far away as Taber, Alberta.
New neighbours moved in across the meadow. The oldest daughter, Marie Podhradsky soon became the love of his life. Marriage took place in the summer of 1957.
Morley worked for Brandt Construction, building the new #5 Highway. Working to live was the way of life for a few years.
Son Dennis was born August 20, 1960. It was time to settle down on the quarter section of land gifted from his parents. Cattle on shares filled the pastures as they built their own herd. Bus transportation for students began. He applied and drove for Turtle River School Division for 31 years. Amaranth started their own fire department and Morley was a volunteer.
On Sunday June 19, 2011 Marie passed away. He retired from cattle farming and rented out his pasture.
With failing health he became a resident the last 2 years at Third Crossing Manor after his stay at Portage Hospital. He enjoyed the outings, music and especially walks to Lickity Splits for ice cream.
Morley was predeceased by his parents; wife Marie; brother Douglas; sisters in law Sue, Ann and Catherine. He leaves to mourn his passing son Dennis of Red Deer, Alberta; brother Lenard (Eleanor); sister Marlyn (Frank) Hunter; brother in law George Podhardsky (Darlene); sister in law Betty (Duane) Arens as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family sincerely thanks everyone for their concern and help while Morley was still in his own home; the doctors and staff at Portage Hospital and the staff at Third Crossing Manor for welcoming Morley and giving him excellent care.
