Susanna Wiebe Obituary

Susie Wiebe, of MacGregor, passed away peacefully at the MacGregor Personal Care home with family by her side.

Mom was predeceased by her first Husband William Penner in 1948; her second husband Jacob Wiebe in 2008; great grandson Ezekiel Jones (in infancy) in 2015.

Mom was born in Wymark, Saskatchewan on May 22, 1927 to Andreas and Maria Knelsen. She grew up in the Wymark area and this is also where she was baptized upon the confession of her faith. She resided there until her second marriage when she moved to Manitoba.

Mom and Dad lived on a small farm near Altona for 4 years and then moved to MacGregor, where they operated a dairy farm. They moved into town in the spring of 1979. Mom worked alongside Dad at the MacGregor Elementary School until they retired in 1987. Mom loved the interaction with the children and staff at school.

Our Mom was an amazing lady who loved her family and supported us in every way she could. We know without a doubt that she prayed for us daily. Mom loved family gatherings. She prepared to host whoever showed up at her door whether it was 2 or 20 of us (or at least we are sure she would have). Mom’s desire was to have a family that loved the Lord and would stick together. She spent countless hours reading her Bible until her eyesight was gone. One of the staff at the Care Home overheard her pray “I would love to read Your Word, but I just can’t see.”

Mom served many areas, teaching Sunday school, being an active part of the Ladies’ Aid and sewing blankets for the MCC.

Mom looked forward to their coffee time and games with friends and family. A few of Mom’s highlights was their bus tour to the east coast and her first flight on the jet to granddaughter Joyce’s in Texas.

Mom is survived by two sons and four daughters Nellie (John) Reimer, Ed (Joyce) Wiebe, Arnold (Anna) Wiebe, Jane (Henry) Dyck, Della (George) Wieler and Flora (Ben) Peters; 26 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at the MacGregor Personal Care Home for their years of care and compassion.
