Vanessa Lauralee McIvor

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Vanessa Laura Lee McIvor, with her family and her friends by her side.

Vanessa passed away on December 10, 2017 at the age of 26 years old at the Steinbach Hospital.

She was predeceased by her grandparents Alex and Adele McIvor, Joseph Demarais, Joyce Desjarlais, John Michael, Romanda, her Koko Audrey; and her sister BobbyJo.

She is survived by her mother Irene (Kenny); father Glen (Darlene); siblings Lawrence McIvor, Jonathan McIvor, Amanda McIvor, Glen Jr. McIvor and Vicky McIvor; Koko Sylvia; Koko Mary; grandpa Milton, Wallace “Ben”; Koko Patsy; aunts and uncles Melinda (Michael Sr.), Betty (Mervin), Mary, Genevie, Archie, Ronald, Alex Jr., Frank (Barb), Gordon (Maggie), Charlie, Rodalina, Irene, Sylvia, Twyla and Priscilla as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Vanessa was raised by her foster parents Gordon and Sheila Houle for 14 years. Then she was moved to Portage with her 2nd foster family, Bonnie. She was transferred to Envision Community Living for 5 years at Steinbach, MB. She was deeply loved and cherished by her housemate Amanda and by all the staff that worked with her each day. She loved animals and so she enjoyed going to petting zoos. She had many friends, staff that cared for her needs. She loved watching TV and playing games, toys and pets – even a cat. She always had a smiling cheerful laugh. She gave bear hugs. She will be dearly missed by everyone that knew her.
