Albert Wall Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Albert John Wall went home to the Lord on May 5, 2026, at Lorne Memorial Hospital in Swan Lake at the age of 69.

Albert was born on August 14, 1956, in MacGregor, Manitoba, to Jake and Tina Wall (nee Gerbrandt) the eldest of their children. He attended school and later left with a Grade 10 education to help his father on the family farm, where he developed a strong work ethic that stayed with him throughout his life.

Albert was baptized upon confession of his faith at the MacGregor Sommerfeld Church.

On June 26, 1977, Albert married Margaret Penner, sharing a special connection to family as it was the 22nd anniversary of Margaret’s parents.

Albert worked for various farmers in his early years before moving to the Winnipeg area, where he worked for Richardson Farms. He later transitioned into trucking, a career he continued for many years. Albert took pride in his green Western Star semi and the life he built behind the wheel. In between trucking, Albert also farmed hay—making square bales and hauling them as far as Texas and Florida to sell for horse feed. Farming was something he truly loved and had always hoped to do full-time, but trucking provided the steady income his family needed, and he carried that responsibility without hesitation.

Albert and Margaret spent time living in Île-des-Chênes before settling near Austin to be closer to family, while Albert continued his work as a long-distance truck driver.

In June 2023, Albert suffered a minor stroke while at home between trips. His health gradually declined over time and in October 2025 he suffered a major stroke that affected his mobility and speech. During this time, he received care at Boundary Trails Hospital and later Portage General Hospital. In early March, he was transferred to Lorne Memorial Hospital in Swan Lake, where his condition continued to decline.

Albert will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Margaret.

His children Michael (Janine) with Olivia and Kaitlynn.

Derek (Shawna) with Leah and Jake.

Justin (Krishawna) with Elliauna, Thea, Dallas and Jude.

Laura (Jeremy) Finnestad.

and Curtis (Marisa) with Amelia.

His siblings Les (Helen) Wall, Gerald (Susan) Wall, and Diana (Ken) Wright.

His sisters in law Helen Bartel, Agatha (Don) Hiebert, Annie Anderson, Kathy (Marty) Fehr. Aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents Jake and Tina Wall.

His parents in law Jacob & Helen Penner.

His brothers in law Allan Bartel & Charles Anderson.

Albert will be remembered for the simple things he loved most. Whether it was going for coffee with friends to “schpitzeah”, baling hay, watching sports, playing catch or heading out hunting with his Uncle George and later with his children and nephews, those moments meant everything to him.

He also had a love for vehicles throughout his life, from his first car—a 1969 yellow Coronet 500 convertible—to his chocolate brown 1978 Ford F150.

Albert also enjoyed playing the farming game—and while it was “just a game” to others, he approached it with full seriousness and a competitive spirit that made every round, especially harvest time, intense and unforgettable.

Above all, Albert loved his family. His children and grandchildren were his greatest pride, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A special thank you to the staff at Boundary Trails Hospital, Portage General Hospital, and Lorne Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion.
