Alfred John Lidster was born on December 2,1958 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba , and passed away on October 21,2025.
Born and raised in Portage, Alfred was an avid sports enthusiast. He enjoyed played on the high school basket ball team and was a proud member of the winning Whitecaps soccer team. Over the years, he remained close with his many teammates and often said that sports were a great builder of character.
After moving to Winnipeg, Al worked in a variety of sales positions- from waterbeds to medical supplies to semi-trailer parts. He approached every job with enthusiasm and made a difference to the company.
Alfred loved a lively discussion - especially when it came to politics- and many of his phone calls had to be steered off the subject. He also had a deep affection for his many dogs over the years. Whether going to the Humane Society or picking the runt of the litter, Alfred loved his dogs.
Alfred is survived by his stepsons, Chris & Tyler; his sisters, Linda, Kathy and Janet; his brother Robert (Wendy) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Robert (Bob) and Joyce and also his brother; William (Bill).
A private family gathering will be announced in the future.
