Andy Knelsen

Andy Knelsen of Austin, Manitoba passed way peacefully in his home on March 1, 2022. 

He was predeceased by his father Jacob Knelsen, his mother Helen Knelsen, his loving wife Dora Knelsen, and his infant granddaughter Rorie Knelsen

Dad was born in Taber, Alberta on May 25, 1952.  He spent his early years in Swift Current before moving with his family to Gladstone in 1966. 

Mom and Dad were married July 16, 1972.  In December 1976, Mom and Dad moved to the farm on Arizona Road where they raised their six children.  Dad moved to Austin in March of 2020, where he resided until his passing. 

Dad was a farmer at heart – he farmed all of his life.  He spent the majority of his working years at Castle Point farms.  Many memories were made going for rides in the tractor and taking meals to Dad in the field. 

Dad was always interested in his grandchildren’s activities – that was always one of the first things that he asked about.  Dad was a man of very few words.  He loved spending time with his family but could often be found sitting in his lawn chair quietly observing.

In the last two years we got to know our Dad differently. Many hours were spent with Dad sharing stories we had never heard.  We will always treasure this time but we knew his heart was heavy and how much he missed our mom.  We take comfort in knowing that they are together again.

Our Dad will be lovingly remembered by his children Darrel (Sharon), Stacey (Dawn), Angela (Chris), Karen (Rob), Gregory (Erika), Jolene (Mike).  Papa will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Taylor (Lexxie), Cole (Katie), Jacie (Boyd), Greyson (Chantelle), Presley, Braelyn, Corbin, Quinn and Fleecy.

Our family is grateful for the kind words, food, phone calls and visits that we have received during this difficult time.
