Art was born on September 28, 1955 in Altona Manitoba to Sara and John Fehr. They lived in Rosetown Manitoba till Art’s parents moved to Gladstone area. Shortly after that they decided to move to Plumas area where his dad farmed. Art attended school in Plumas for a very short time and then quit and decided to find work. He did a number of jobs for people in the area plus farmed with his dad. Grain farming became his passion and he decided to continue after his dad retired back to Rosetown.
Art met Wendy Mauthe in Plumas and became very good friends. In November 1974 they got married and resided on the farm just outside of town limits. A year later in 1975 their first child Shauna was born. Shelly came along in 1978 and their son Curtis in 1982. All 3 children kept them busy with baseball and hockey. Over the winter months Art worked for the municipality clearing brush in the ditches. He also hauled grain for other people to different places. Later on he purchased a few semis and super B trailers and continued to haul grain and fertilizer for a number of years. He also hauled liquid fertilizer for a few businesses and farmers from the area plus Neepawa, Saint Rose, etc. All the while he kept grain farming for 45 years total!
He enjoyed camping in the summer and playing hockey as a goalie in the winter. He enjoyed watching his children grow up and get married. Together, they were blessed with six beautiful grandchildren who kept Art and Wendy busy also!
In 2015 Art’s health deteriorated. There were many complications including heart disease, kidney failure and diabetes so in 2019 they sold their farm and retired to Neepawa. In 2021 they moved to Steinbach, Mb. to be closer to a couple of their children.
Art was predeceased by his parents, John and Sarah, sister Katie, brother Johnny and his precious grand-daughter Erin.
Left to mourn his passing, his wife Wendy, his daughter Shauna(Kevin), grand-daughter Samantha(Clay), great grandson Clint, grand-daughter Cassandra(Spencer); daughter Shelly(Mike), grandchildren Ethan, Brylin(Nick); Son Curtis, grandson Jayden(Savanna); sisters Annie, Leona, Florence and Beth(Dan); brother Leonard(Marj); sister-in-law Sarah; Auntie Margaret and several nieces and nephews.
