Arthur Jerry Richard

Surrounded by his family. Arthur Jerry Richard, also known as “Bookit”, began his journey to the spirit world on February 16, 2023. 

Arthur was predeceased by his parents; Ida and Antoine Richard, siblings; Patrick Richard, Rita Richard (LaLa), Shirley Richard, and Cecil Richard (Mr.Winter). Brother In-laws; Douglas Desjarlais, and Clifford Roulette. 

He is survived by his siblings; Leo Richard (Jicot), Roland Richard (Bully), Donna Desjarlais, Sandra Richard, and Rupert Richard. Daughter; Cecily Desjarlais, grandchildren; Xavier, Draven, Jayda and Carleigh. Best friend (nephew) “mark2”. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Arthur was born in Gladstone, Manitoba and raised in Sandy Bay First Nation. Growing-up, Arthur was given many nicknames from family and friends, such as, “Bushkit”, “Bookit”, and “Arty”. In his younger days he would enjoy woodcutting with the Levassuer’s boys. He enjoy sitting around listening to his CB radio, movies, fixing his trucks, lawnmower, and always working with his hands keeping busy. He took so much pride in his lawn. He would make time and go help around his neighborhood with their yards and make trails for the kids so they wouldn’t have to walk on the road.  He was always a watchful eye for the neighborhood and took great pleasure in keeping the kids safe. He valued a traditional lifestyle and practiced his culture all his life. He loved to laugh hard, and joke around with his family and friends. He would give the kids nicknames, and most of them still have them to this day! He enjoyed going for drives out in the country and going out hunting with his best friend “Mark2”. 

Uncles and nephews share a special bond that most people do not understand. They love each other and always want what’s best for each other. This is what uncle Arty and Mark2 share. This relationship is unique and special, something everyone should try to emulate in their lives.

All family and friends are honorary pallbearers. 

Until we meet again, Arthur will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
