A Life Well Lived...
On March 30, 2026- Barbara Anne Jackson passed away at the age of 91 years.
Barbara was born January 22, 1935 at Gladstone, the youngest child of Arthur and Barbara Bosworth.
A sister to Frank, Mildred and Margaret She was predeceased by her parents, siblings, husband Alan (2003) and daughter in law Violet(2026)
Barbara attended “Normal School” and received her teacher certificate, where she later taught at North Lakeland and both schools in Langruth.
Barbara met her future husband when her sister Mildred had invited her over for supper, and Alan was also there. They were married August 20, 1955 in the Anglican church in Gladstone after which they started their life together farming, and raising Angus cattle. While also raising their four children.
Mom loved to cook and bake, so when you came to visit she immediately commented how you must be hungry, and you were to eat...usually something sweet! There are so many memories of large gardens, butchering chickens and ducks, and summer fairs showing cattle while visiting with friends. Every year mom would bake and craft her entries for the Annual Langruth Fall Fair. In the days leading up to the fair you knew to stay away but that evening after she came home with her ribbons, prizes and what was left of her baking entries was when we all got to sample the goodies!! And we all definitely agree they were red ribbons all the way, especially her bread, buns, butter tarts and cinnamon buns.
Mom was also involved in UCW, 4-H and TOPS. After retiring from teaching, she enjoyed the get-togethers and adventures with her fellow retirees.
Left to Celebrate Barbara’s life are her four children Bill, Bob, Gail, Glen and their spouses as well as her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A special thank you to the staff at Third Crossing Manor for their kindness and compassion while mom was there. And special friends Janet and Nancy.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 02, 2026 at 11:00am at Lakeland Cemetery. Lunch to follow at Langruth Community Hall.
