Barbara Joan Lowe

             Barbara passed away quietly on October 10, 2021 at the Macgregor Care Home at the age of 81 years.

            Born January 24, 1940, the youngest child of Tom and Beulah Lowe.  She was a lifelong companion and help to her mother Beulah until her passing in 1994.  At that time Barbara took up residence in Hillview Lodge, Austin until her move to the Care Home.

            Barbara was very involved in her community.  She helped with all aspects of the United Church, choir, UCW, C.G.I.T, Explorers and Sunday School.  She was a longtime volunteer with the Red Cross and a member of T.O.P.S.. She loved to read and looked after the traveling library for many years. Barbara loved to play cards and spent many hours playing bridge. Family was very important to Barb as she never missed a birthday, anniversary, wedding, funeral or family reunion.

            Although Barbara never married or had children of her own and lived with the issues that contracting polio dealt her, she lived a long and happy life surrounded by a wonderful community and many friends and family.

            Her Care Home family, who knew her as "Barbie", dressed her in pink and spoiled her at every opportunity, were a big part of her last years and her family are grateful for their care and attention.

            She was predeceased by her parents, Tom and Beulah, brothers Ralph(Velma), Roy(Jean), Roger, Tom(Hazel) and sisters Ella(Karl), Phyllis(Jack) and Shirley(Tom).

            She leaves to mourn her sister-in-law Norma, many nieces and nephews and their families, cousins, extended family and friends.
