Beatrice was predeceased by her parents Frank and Annie Rainkie, brothers Henry, Mervin and Leonard, along with sister Eva Carruthers.
Beatrice was born on May 29, 1928, in Oak Leaf District where she grew up on a farm with her family. On May 1, 1945, she married Kenneth Higgins at the Eden United Church and moved to the Birnie area where they operated a farm. Beatrice worked hard at tending to her large garden and raspberry patch and had a green thumb as she could grow even the most delicate flowers just from slips.
Beatrice was a compassionate, loving mother who spent her entire life caring for her son Garry for 56 years. She always had an open door and delicious food and desserts to serve her family and neighbor’s when the stopped by no matter the time of the day.
Upon Kenneth’s passing in 1989, Beatrice and Garry moved to Neepawa. Beatrice has a big family and always enjoyed having everyone over so she could feed us and sit back and listen to all of us tell stories.
