Brenda “Chicky” Marie King (McCorrister) of Rapid City, MB was born on August 19, 1962 in Swan River, MB. Brenda passed away in the late evening of January 18, 2026 in the Brandon Regional Hospital surrounded by family. She was 63 years old.
Brenda was raised by her Father, Norman McCorrister in Birch River, MB, a small well-known community. She started her education in Birch River and attended high school in Swan River. After school, Brenda moved to Thompson, MB. She worked for MTS for 18 years, between Operation Services and Service Maintenance Building. While with MTS, Brenda was heavily involved with her local Union. Even was on the negotiation committee during contract negotiations in 1999.
After relocating to Rapid City, she would eventually take a job cooking at the Queens Hotel. She was heavily involved with many community events, like running the canteen at the Rapid City Fair on Farmers Market Suppers, to lunch for the Old-Fashioned Family Christmas. Eventually she started running her own catering jobs for Weddings, Funerals, Birthdays, and Family Get-Togethers… and so much more. She even ran a Seniors Supper from home, bringing hot suppers to seniors around Rapid City. She was currently employed at the Tempo Emporium in Rivers, MB. She also enjoyed her time volunteering with the Rapid City Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories partner Robert Crompton, Sons Jeff King and Mitch King (Fiancé Jan). Brothers Randy McCorrister (Wife Michelle) and Brian McCorrister (Partner Louise). Step children Elissa Crompton and Shawn Crompton (Wife Lieane). Grandchildren Ethan King, Hunter King, Madden King.
