Cody Mousseau Obituary

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Cody Grayson Mousseau. He passed just before his 32nd birthday in Sandy Bay Ojibway Nation. Cody was born on December 20th, 1987 to Laura and Jim Mousseau, their youngest son and “baby boy” of the family.

Cody was predeceased by his baby daughter Kiera; paternal grandparents Matthew and Florence Mousseau; his maternal grandparents Jim and Florence Houle; and his cousins Jared Red Cloud and Michael Grayson Houle whom Cody had a close brotherly bond with.

Cody leaves to mourn his children, Kylie, Chaston, and Paeson; his parents, Laura and Jim; “Mama” Ruby; Kookoo Marg; siblings, Baron (Jess), Adrienne (John), Bucky (Lacy), Dusty (Crystal), Jamie (Brooke), Lacy (Greg), Georgia (Allen), and Mederise; godparents Ralph and Marlene Houle; his numerous nieces and nephews; and all his cousins, aunties, and uncles.

Cody was a typical boy growing up in the Rez; rough housing, swimming in ditches, and playing outside all day with the cousins. He was a solid and protective brother to his siblings. He was the type of person you would want in your corner. He always had your back.

Cody played hockey from a young age and during his teenage years, he tried out for the Jr. A OCN Blizzard making the final cuts during tryouts. He was known for his aggressive style of play.

Growing up, Cody had a love for iron and the gym. He always wanted “big muscles” and to be the biggest and baddest man on the block. When he put his mind to something, he wouldn’t stop till he accomplished his goal. Cody was well known for his muscular build and physique.

He had an amazing smile and infectious laugh. To his close family, he was known as “the pest,” especially to his dad, who he always played jokes on. His loveable and playful nature towards his children, and nieces and nephews, is a testament to the kind of man he was.

Cody enjoyed drawing and writing. He would never say it, but he was a talented artist.

Cody will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. He has given us countless precious memories to remember. His spirit will live on through his children and his family. Cody wouldn’t want us to be sad for too long and to know he is at peace.
