Debra ‘Debi’ Annabelle Lobreau (Ramsey) gently passed away at the Grace Hospital ICU surrounded by family on January 20, 2026 at the age of 69 years after a six-week long hospital stay.
Debi was born January 3, 1957 in Hartney, Manitoba to Arnold James Ramsey and Janet Alberta (Drummond). The third of four children, Debi grew up near Lauder, primarily on the family farm north of town. She was no stranger to hard work, helping her parents with chores on the farm, tending to cattle, participating in her local 4H club, and even helping right a tractor from the ditch in the middle of the night just because Grandpa didn’t want the neighbours to see what he did. At other times she could be found in the rhubarb patch with a sugar bowl pilfered from the kitchen.
Debi attended her first years of school in Lauder's two-room school house before attending high school in Hartney. Here she met her husband-to-be Clair. They were married on October 18, 1975 in Lauder and soon moved to their first home in Elgin. After only two weeks they were on the move again to Glenora for Clair’s new manager position with Manitoba Pool Elevators. More moves brought them to Longburn where they lived in a house she affectionately called their “Little House on the Prairie”, to MacDonald, and finally to settle in MacGregor. As her sons grew, her newfound time took her to work at the local restaurants Martrina’s and J.K.’s Drive-Inn as well as the Co-op Gas Bar.
Debi enjoyed coaching youth sports, volunteering for many minor hockey and baseball leagues, arts and crafts, and gardening but as her health diminished she found enjoyment in puzzles, birdwatching, and seeing her grand-daughter Caitlin at singing and dancing performances.
She is predeceased by her husband Clair Lobreau, parents Arnold Ramsey and Janet (Drummond), twin sons Kenny and Keith, and sister Arlyne (David) Clarke.
She will be remembered by son Derrick (Cathy) and grand-daughter Caitlin, son Dallas, brother Terrence (Leticia) Ramsey, and sister Teresa (Robert) Briggs.
