Donna Margaret (Carson) Stanley

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Donna Margaret Stanley (nee Carson) with family by her side on December 27, 2023 at the Portage General Hospital at the age of 71.

Donna was born June 21, 1952 and grew up in the Lakeland area.  She moved away briefly to Winnipeg to go to school but then returned to the family farm where she resided until her passing.  Donna had 4 grandchildren and always enjoyed spending time with them.  She was known for making some of the best homemade buns around and they were often requested for family functions.  Donna was a huge curling fan and you knew that if you called to ask her about it, she would always know when and what channel the curling was on.  She was strong woman who was diagnosed and battled 4 different types of cancer over the last 14 years and rarely complained or let anyone worry about her. We will all miss her dearly but we know that she is no longer in pain.  Rest easy Mom until we see you again.

Donna was predeceased by her parents Robert and Margaret, grandson Brendan and nephew Ryan; in-laws Howard and Marjorie, brother-in-law Carl and sister-in-law Bev.

Donna is survived by her husband of 49 years, Jim; daughter Allison (Dallas) and their children Dawson and Alexa; son Darrin (Heather) and their children Carson and Rhayne; sister Maureen (Jim); brother-in-law Gary; brother-in-law Ron (Karlene), sister-in-law Linda as well as many nieces and nephews and their families. 

Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank Dr. Brett Finney for his care and compassion over the years and also to the staff of Portage Hospital for their excellent care for the time that she was in hospital.
