Passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Third Crossing Manor, Gladstone at the age of 83.
Earle was born in Gladstone on June 30, 1935. He was the youngest of a family of ten children born to Robert & Anna Hooper of Woodside, MB. He was educated at the Woodside school. He worked on the family farm alongside his dad, until the tragic death of his mother on September 2, 1952. Robert and Earle moved to Gladstone in September 1953. Earle gained employment with the Canadian National Railway on May 14, 1956. He worked for CNR for 38 years. As a young man, Earle joined the Militia Army #12 Dragoons in Neepawa, MB and served for five years.
Earle met his bride to be at a dance in Plumas, MB in 1957; Phyllis Baker, eldest daughter of Sydney & Mariam Baker, of Plumas, MB. They were married October 17, 1959 at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Portage. Earle and Phyllis raised a family of three, Eva, Vincent and Angela.
Earle was predeceased by his parents Robert & Anna Hooper; his siblings and their spouses; infant son George in 1969; in laws Sydney & Mariam Baker; and brother in law Leo Baker. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Phyllis of 59 years; daughter Eva Kammerer; grandsons Chris Kammerer, Travis & Kira Kammerer; great granddaughter Lexi Kammerer; son Vincent; daughter Angela (John) Coghill; sister in law Ivy Baker and many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. Dad will also be missed by his pet therapy dog, Shadow. Dad looked forward to Shadow’s and Vincent’s daily visits.
Earle was quiet and soft spoken, but always enjoyed a visit with family and friends. His passion in life was his family, which always came first. Earle was there for anyone who needed a helping hand. He was happy to give his love and support. Earle was loved by many and will always be missed.
Earle enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, cards, bingo, his pets, and coffee with the boys. Earle’s faith was important to him; he was a member of All Saints Anglican Church since 1953. He was also a proud member of the Gladstone Legion #110 for over 50 years.
