Grandpa fought a long battle with diabetes and he passed away at home with family by his side.
He was a family man who loved when his children and grandchildren would come and visit. Grandpa was a passionate hunter who found solace in the great outdoors. He was a dedicated worker for Isaac Beaulieu Memorial School for over 40 years as a maintenance supervisor. He was a well-known figure in the community; he served as a member of the Sandy Bay Powwow Committee for 24 years. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love for nature and a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Eddy was born in Treherne, attended residential schools in Sandy Bay and Kenora, then he met his wife Claudia and they got married and have been married for 60 years. In those 60 years they started their life in Sandy Bay and welcomed 6 children.
Grandpa loved his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He would always have a smile on his face and a story to share with each one of them. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, from the way he would light up whenever they were around. We would always celebrate his birthday with a big family bbq in his honour. Grandpa loved gathering everyone together sharing delicious food and creating cherished memories. His birthday celebrations were always filled laughter, love and joy. The family bbq will never be the same without him, but we will continue to honour his legacy by keeping the tradition alive in his memory.
Grandpa always travelled with his family to powwows all over, he immersed his family in the powwow trail. His dedication to the powwow trail and traveling to attend powwows not only kept our cultural traditions alive but laid the foundations for the livelihood of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide us for generations to come.
Grandpa’s strong work ethic and dedication to his community of Sandy Bay were truly admirable. For over 40 years, he served as the maintenance supervisor at I.B.M.S. His commitment to his work and the well-being of others was unwavering. Additionally, his 24 years of service on the Sandy Bay Powwow Committee exemplified his passion for making a difference in the community and contributing to its growth and development. Grandpa’s hard work, generosity and leadership will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of working with him.
Grandpa’s love for the great outdoors was evident in his passion for hunting and skidoo racing. He enjoyed spending time in Duck Mountain(Drunk Mountain) with all his hunting buddies. His skill and dedication for hunting led him to be named Sportsman of the Year in 2012 for the 10th Annual Kitchi-Bully Nite, a well-deserved recognition of his talent and sportsman in the hunting community. Grandpa’s love for skidoo racing took him on exhilarating rides, where he fearlessly embraced the speed and excitement of the sport.
Grandpa will be deeply missed.
