Elizabeth Irene Peters

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Elizabeth (Betty) Irene Peters at Portage General Hospital on August 13, 2024 at the age of 82. Betty was born on July 17, 1942 in the Rural Municipality of Stanley, Manitoba. She grew up in the Austin area and attended Norfolk and Austin schools.  Betty moved to Winnipeg as a young adult and began a career in healthcare. She initially worked in the municipal hospitals as an aide and then completed her Licensed Practical Nurse training.  She later upgraded to become a Registered Nurse and worked at St. Boniface Hospital until 1986 when she returned back to Austin to help care for her mother.

Betty had a strong and independent spirit.  She was known for her love of reading and always had a book or two on the go. She was an excellent baker and her many desserts showed up at Christmas and family gatherings.  Betty enjoyed flowers, gardening, and watching and feeding birds.

Betty was predeceased by her parents Henry and Helen Peters. She is survived by her siblings Helen (Walter) Schellenberg, Mary (Terry) Schultz, Henry (Marianne) Peters, Ruth (Bernie) Dueck and many nieces and nephews and their families.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kaitlin Fulmore for her care for Betty over the past few years.
