It is with great sadness we have lost our mom, grandmother, great grandmother. Peacefully she passed Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the Portage General Hospital.
Elsie is survived by her son Terry Rempel. Daughter Bev (Kevin) Coubrough. Grandchildren Chris (Angie) Lloyd, Jodi (Jeff) Alexander, Derek (Selina) Coubrough, Trent (Jeremy) Chroniak, Nathan Rempel. Her closest sister Mary Martens & sister-in-law Helen Klassen.
Elsie is predeceased by her parents Jacob & Annie Klassen. Her husband Melvin (Jim) Rempel, daughter Linda Wall, daughter-in-law Helen Rempel. Her immediate family Jake Klassen, John Klassen, Annie Letkeman & Katie Hiebert.
In 1948 she met the love of her life Melvin (Jim) Rempel, they both joined the MacGregor Bergthaler Church and were married in 1958. After they lived in Bagot, Man., Winnipeg, Man., Springstein, Man., and finally MacGregor, Man. where they lived the longest until Dad’s passing. Mom eventually moved to the Dalton Estates in Portage la Prairie.
Mom / Grandma had many talents – she loved her flowers, and this showed in her beautiful yard & gardens in MacGregor, Man. She could also sing and sang with her sister Mary Martens for a few years, even making a cassette & a CD.
She was a wonderful baker, we remember her baking Cinnamon Buns and selling them to local businesses.
Mom & Dad also made many crafts and went to a few craft shows to sell their beautiful products. Also, she was a lovely decorator!
Her last days were spent at McDonalds for coffee, well deserved after all of her busy times. Mom had the gift of the gab which gave her many great friends.
We will all miss her so very much.
Rest in Peace Grandma!
