Grandpa was the oldest member of Sandy Bay. He was an avid trapper, hunter and fisherman. Grandpa loved being outdoors and could always be found in the bush on his quad or skidoo checking snares or gathering wood. Grandpa lived an “old fashioned” lifestyle – heating his home with firewood and smoking his meat with sticks and a slow burning fire. Grandpa worked all his life leaving at an early age. He worked at Cold Storage in Winnipeg for the RM of Westbourne before starting at Whitemud Watershed from 1972 – 1998.
He won every beard competition he entered and the reigning champ in the elder category for gardening. Grandpa passed on many teachings to his children and especially to his grandsons.
Grandpa will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
