Frank Wallace Hunter passed away April 26, 2024, at Third Crossing Manor in Gladstone Manitoba
Born on December 9, 1934, on the family farm at Mayfield to parents Percy and Bessie (nee Bales) Hunter.
He was the second child, having an older brother Archie, a younger brother Ross and a younger sister Florence.
Frank received his education in a one room schoolhouse at Gillespie. He helped with chores on the farm alongside his dad. With the sudden death of his dad in 1957 he took over the farm operation with his mother until the spring of 1966 when they sold and moved to Portage.
He then worked at a vegetable farm, and a chicken farm in Calgary for a short time.
In the meantime, his mother came back to Gladstone and Frank moved back with her.
After taking a welding course he worked for Versatile Manufacturing Wpg until 1971. In that same year he married Marlyn McLaughlin on March 26, 1971.
The fall of 1971 he started working for Co-op for the next 15 years.
He then worked for Gladstone Sports Association; took his training for a school bus driver, which he did for 8 years.
After retirement he enjoyed being out in his workshop sitting at his scroll saw. Over the years he produced many wood crafts including clocks, bowls, wall hangings, candle stick, just to name a few. If it could be crafted from wood, he would take on the project.
He was always willing to help someone out, he drove handi van and did town trips to help out seniors.
What gave him most joy was spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother Archie, 2 nephews and a niece, also brother-in-law Allan.
He is survived by his wife Marlyn, daughters Karna (Kerry) Tannis (Todd), Sandra and his son Darcy, brother Ross (Edna), sister Florence, grandson Coty, granddaughter Avery and great granddaughter Skylar, also many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff for the care Frank received during his 6-year 5 month stay at TCM.
