Obituary

In Loving Memory of

George A. Constant

May 10, 1970 – September 1, 2023.

Romans 10:9-10 “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”

George Allen Constant was born on May 10th, 1970, in The Pas, MB.

As George grew up, he enjoyed the outdoors. Many days as a kid, he would play in the backyard and outdoors with fellow brothers, cousins & friends. Playing tag, monster or sasquatch in the bushes were some of the common games they enjoyed playing. So, it does not surprise many of those who knew him that he would take his family outdoors to walk, hike or go on adventures to various parks and playgrounds. Family time was very important!

George accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at a young age. George and his brothers, cousins and friends would attend Sunday School regularly at Big Eddy, with Amanda Anderson. He also attended Steeprock Bay Bible Camp every summer.

In his teenage years, George grew up in Saskatoon and Prince Albert SK, where he attended school. George did not like school much. He enjoyed going to movies, parks and walking in the city, when his cousins and friends would come to visit. George loved going to movies! He also enjoyed comic books, something he inherited from his older brother Philip.

Eventually, George did move back to Opaskwayak. He was persistent in finding a job. One of the jobs Peter joined him in was window washing several town businesses. They made them wear billboard signs with advertisements, but George would yell in the street, “Save the whales!” or “Ban the D.D.T.!” (Remember Jake the Snake from WWF?).

He eventually began working at the Otineka Mall in a new business called Shane’s Music. George mentioned, at first, that it was only temporary, but temporary lasted over 25 years. Over those years, George met many people and made many friends. He was very knowledgeable in music and musical equipment. He loved playing guitar and mandolin. You could count on George to get the latest gadgets for musicians and music for the music lover. It was also at Shane’s music that he met his wife to be, Janice.

George & Janice, together with Peter & Charlene, formed a Christian worship band called Divine Signature. They traveled to various churches, Steeprock Bay Bible camp, tent meetings, festivals, and conferences. It was a great time of ministering for the Lord Jesus. Friendships between them grew stronger.

George and Janice developed a friendship, which turned into a close relationship, and they fell in love. George proposed to Janice in a small town in Saskatchewan called LOVE. They were married on May 28, 2011, and loved each other deeply for over 12 years.

At the Lord’s leading, they attended Keywaytin Bible Institute in Lac la Biche, AB. After their 1st year, the school closed, and they continued their studies at Nipawin Bible College. There they had their first child Benaiah.

After Nipawin, they moved to Gladstone. George worked as the Aboriginal liaison in the local school. He also worked as a custodian in the town community hall. He was a good provider and hard worker!

George & Janice were blessed with 4 beautiful children: Benaiah, Apphia, Atarah, and Jabin. They will miss their daddy.

George will be missed by all who knew him. He was a husband, daddy, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, co-worker, and a great friend! He touched a lot of lives over the years. I know each one of us has a story to tell about him. He loved the Lord Jesus, and he wanted nothing more than for all people to come to the saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is in heaven now with Jesus. And I know he would say to those who don’t know Jesus yet, “He’s real! Accept Him into your heart. Seek forgiveness and be saved! He’s coming soon.”

George is survived by his loving wife Janice; his precious children Benaiah, Apphia, Atarah, and Jabin; his parents, Philip & Georgina Constant; his brother Craig (Leah); his nephew Philip; mother-in-law Betty; brother-in-law’s Peter (Charlene), Kelvin, Karl (Tracey) and sons Myles & Elliott, along with numerous aunties, uncles, cousins, and great nephews. George was predeceased by his brother Philip, as well as other dear family and friends.

A big heartfelt thank you to all who are showing support in this difficult time.
