Harold Clark Blyth (Had), aged 64, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at the Notre Dame Foyer.
Born on October 28, 1960 at MacGregor MB, Harold was the son of Clark and Kate Blyth (Leckie). Harold received his education in MacGregor and always knew farming was his calling. From a young age, he developed a deep connection to the land, taking great pride in farming alongside his parents and siblings on the family farm. That bond with the land only grew stronger as he later farmed with his wife of 41 years, Ramona — a partnership rooted in love, hard work, and shared purpose. Harold and Ramona (Potvin) were married on Nov. 12, 1983.
A lifelong farmer, Harold was known for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and deep love for the land and cattle. He had profound joy and peace in the simple, powerful moments of farm life: the scent of fresh-cut hay, newly worked soil, the birth of a newborn calf, the sound of rain on the roof, and the way the sun lit up the rolling hills he called home. He had a special love for trees, especially spruce trees, and found comfort in their stillness and resilience.
He is predeceased by his parents Clark and Kate Blyth and his in-laws Felix & Yvonne Potvin. Harold is lovingly remembered by his wife, Ramona, and their children: Darren (Dawne), Mitch (Jamie), Keely (Jeff), and Nicole (Jesse). He was a proud and devoted grandfather to James (Kendal), Liam, Connor, River, Hadley, Clark, Kate, Beau, Callan, Remi, and Sterling, whom gave him such joy and chaos at the same time. He will also be deeply missed by his siblings, notably the special bond he shared with Sharron, his in-laws and his many nieces and nephews.
His legacy lives on in the values he lived by, integrity, perseverance, kindness, and a deep respect for the land. These qualities, along with his enduring love for agriculture and nature, have been passed down through his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of Harold’s life will be held in the Pioneer Building at The Manitoba Agricultural Museum on Friday, September 5th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Harold’s memory be made to the North Norfolk Foundation (Kinette Emergency Fund) or the Notre Dame Foyer.
