Passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019 at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 90 years.
Helen was born on May 24, 1929 to Earl & Lucille McKellar. After completing school, Helen went on to Normal School to become a teacher. She taught in a few different schools, including Elm Creek and Gladstone.
Helen was well known for being the first woman to hold the secretary-treasurer position in the Municipality of Gladstone. She and her husband Ernest also ran one of the very first PMU farms in Manitoba. Together they had two daughters, Lois and Susanne.
Helen was predeceased by her parents; husband Ernest; and sister Shirley Richie. She is survived by two daughters, Lois Hunt and Sue Legault; grandchildren Erin (Scott) McDugall, Megan (Pierre) McKenzie, Faye (Kyle) Legault and Deana Legault; great grandchildren Alexandra, Micah, Ridd and Jayden; brother Bruce McKellar as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
