It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa at the age of 75 on Saturday April 4th, 2026.
Herb was born in Glenboro, Manitoba on June 14, 1950 and was raised in Cypress River.
Lovingly remembered by his wife Betty, daughters; Kerri-Ann (Neil) L’Heureux, Tricia (Darcy) Zander, Tamara Rempel (Yvon), grandchildren; Hayden (Apryl) L’Heuruex, Haley L’Heureux (Haley), Mackinley Zander (Jack), Broddy Zander, Erin Rempel, Sam Rempel, great grandchildren; Eloise & Bennett L’Heureux. He is also survived by his sisters; Margaret Anne (Gregg) Carels, Emily Hyrich, Barbara Sigurdson, Norma Jean (Doug) Guthrie and brother Rick (Suzanne) Walker. As well as many nieces, nephews and so many friends who’s lives he touched. Herb was predeceased by his parents Marjorie & Simon Sigurdson and his brother Tim.
In June of 1971 Herb met the love of his life and with a little coaxing and a whole lot of sweet talk, he won over Betty’s heart and they were married on May 6, 1972.
They raised their three daughters in MacGregor, Kerri-Ann, Tricia and Tamara, to give 110% in everything they did, to love fiercely and to be kind to every single person you meet. Watch out though, if anyone ever hurt his four ladies. They were his whole heart.
His heart grew even bigger when he became a grandfather to Hayden, Haley, Mackinley, Broddy, Erin and Sam. Finally his heart grew full when he became a great grandfather to his Itty Bitty (Eloise) and Monster (Bennett).
Herb’s motto was “if he couldn’t fix it, it’s junk.” He was a man of many talents and spent his entire life fixing whatever needed fixing, and even what didn’t. Herb had such a passion for all things mechanics, taking everything apart that could come apart, just to see how it went back together. His many years spent working in shops on anything imaginable, gave him so much knowledge that he so proudly passed down.
Herb’s favourite thing to do in the whole world was go camping. From many years spent at Ditch Lake to the more recent time pulling the camper down to Spruce Woods. Herb’s summers were always spent sitting around a bonfire, with a coffee, beer or scotch and spending precious time with those that meant most to him.
Herb will be remembered for his generous big heart, quick witted humour and larger than life personality.
