Herman Erich Hoffman

July 14, 1945 ~ May 29, 2023 (age 77) 77 Years Old

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Herman Erich Hoffmann, after a short stay in Hospital.

Herman was born on July 14, 1945 to John and Hilda Hoffmann in Brandon, MB. He grew up in Bjorkdale, SK and moved to Amaranth, MB in the Spring of 1953.

At the young age of 14, Herman wasn’t afraid of getting his hands dirty and working hard. Some of his professions included; Ice Fishing, Tire Repairmen, Construction, Gravel Truck, Mining, Farming and even a Bouncer at the Amaranth bar. This is where he met Rosemarie.

Rosemarie and Herman after several moves across MB, decided to come back to Amaranth where they opened a grocery store and then he built the Pawn Shop which they ran together. Herman had built numerous houses and additions. One build was a huge stage on their addition to the house for Rosie to sing karaoke when they had friends over.

Herman’s health was up and down over the years but he still made sure Rosie had her flower garden on both sides of the walk way to the pawn shop.

Herman enjoyed listening to Rosie sing, Dauphin country fest, Asham stompers and playing cards with friends. Card games got quite feisty. They had caster wheels on their chairs and chased one another down the hall way trying to catch each other cheating in cards. Numerous camping trips with friends was the highlight of there weekends.

Herman developed an interest and passion in flying late in life and got his license. He owned two aircraft, a Cessna two seater and a crop plane.

Herman’s health declined more and more after Rosie’s passing.

Predeceased by parents John and Hilda Hoffmann and lifelong partner of 47 years Rosemarie.

Left to cherish his memory are his brother Albert ( Marlene) Hoffmann Lydia (Joey) Johnson, Claudette (Terry) Moisan, Shane (Kim) Bilkoski, Todd Bilkoski and Lisa Robb grandchildren and great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

At Herman’s request he will be buried with the love of his life. A private family service will take place on June 10/23 at Amaranth cemetery and a private celebration of life at Shane and Kim’s residence south of town.
