Irene Moore Obituary

Our family is saddened by the sudden passing of Irene Moore on June 5, 2020 at Country Meadows Personal Care Home, Neepawa.

Irene was born March 30, 1932 in Winnipeg. She and her brothers moved to Plumas with their parents at a young age. It was in Plumas that her sister was born. She worked as a teenager at the telephone switchboard. She graduated high school and went on to Success Business College. After working at Eaton’s she came to work in Gladstone at the Bank of Montreal. She married Robert Moore on June 27, 1952 and became a part of Moore’s General Store. This loving marriage lasted for 49 years. She was predeceased by her husband Bob; parents Charlie and Katie Schettler and son in law Ed Williams.

Left to fondly remember her are daughters Sherry James and Gwen Williams; grandchildren Jennifer (Darcy) Melony, Colt, (Katelyn) and DJ, David (Sheena) Reiner, Chloe, Bentley and Astyn, Blake (Kendall)Williams  and Mark Williams, brothers Bill (Elaine)Schettler, Don (Marina) Schettler, and sister Bernice (Russell) Patterson as well as close cousin Bill Schick, and sister in law Maxine Harvey.

Mom enjoyed CGIT, curling and skating and enjoyed being part of the life and work of the Plumas United Church as a long time member of the choir, Explorer group leader. She was a helpful hand to the Figure Skating Club. Irene participated in many skate-a-thons and many times was one of the last skaters. She loved to dress up for the Plumas Carnival.

She had a heart of gold and was a very willing volunteer. Oh, those Plumas Fall suppers and lunch counters at the rinks. She cared for others especially those less fortunate than herself. She was a great volunteer. She had the staff at Country Meadows trained to respond to her “Come over here!” finger. Her wants and needs were simple as long as she got Ribs or liver and onions!!.

We will all miss her but she leaves each of us with special memories of their own. What we have lost, Heaven has gained.

“If there comes a time when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart and I’ll stay there forever.”
