It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. Isaac Buhler passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, December 20th, 2020, at the age of 51, with his wife, Melissa and his mom at his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Isaac will be dearly missed by his wife Melissa; his mom Barbara; his siblings Mary and Dave Dyck, and their children Delicia and Shawn Hildebrand, Carlissa, and Kelton; Nettie and Poi Levale and their children Nakisa, Tausani, and Josiah; Martha and Nathan Beswitherick and their children Destanee, Shaina, Jaydon, and Elaina; Barb and Joel Goertzen and their children Jireh, Bowen, Rylan and Sierra; Susan and Trevor Martens and their children Tianna, David and Kylie; his father-in-law, Edward Truman, his brother-in-law Will and Melanie Truman and their children Sawyer and Cedar.
Isaac was born on July 3rd, 1969 in Bolivia, South America. He was predeceased by his dad, Isaac Buhler in 2012.
Isaac chose to live life to the fullest! He loved this quote by Chuck Swindoll, “Your life is not over, keep enjoying it! Live like you want to Live!” These words are what Isaac lived by to his very last breath.
Isaac was a loving, gentle soul. Everyone who knew him would agree. Family meant the world to him. He loved his nieces and nephews with all his heart. He took great joy in hosting family fun days at their farm. The hayrides, the hide’n’seek games, tag on the bales, and bonfires are memories that will be treasured forever. He was never too old to play.
Isaac farmed at Edrans. He took pride in caring for his cows! He had the best herd around; he walked and talked with them daily, very diligent to their needs. Summertime kept him busy making hay and checking fences. Once that was done, he would be sourcing the wood from suitable trees for his rustic log furniture company. Every piece of furniture was thoughtfully crafted and was as unique as the wood grain it came from. He lived a life of excellence and this showed in every project he completed.
Along the way, Isaac always took time to enjoy the beauty of nature around him. As the snow melted, he’d set out to find the first sign of spring- the crocus. He loved to capture the natural beauty through photos and he would often send us pictures of his discoveries. He was quick to throw in his kayak, bike, or hiking shoes to mix play into his work day. The great outdoors was his home!
Isaac was in his early 20’s when he made a life changing decision to follow Jesus as his personal Savior. He was passionate about his love for the Lord. He took joy in serving the Bethel youth group, hosting Bible studies, ushering, and assisting with communion. He considered this a privilege and didn’t take it lightly. Isaac would always take time to prepare his heart, and ask the Lord to give him a clean heart and strength for the task.
Isaac’s heart was complete, when he fell in love with Melissa! We’ve never seen his smile so big! He loved her so dearly. They enjoyed 5 ½ years of marriage, which he playfully celebrated with a “moniversary” on the fifth of every month. Melissa and Isaac were so perfect for each other! They were so very happy together! Melissa brought so much meaning and purpose to his life. Their time together was filled with many adventures. Melissa was the only one in the world who could convince Isaac to leave his cows with a babysitter. This new freedom gave them the privilege to explore the beaches of Mexico and Cuba, the west coast and so many places in between. The two of them built a life of memories; watching the sunrise while enjoying a cup of coffee on the deck, long walks through their trees, gardening, camping and date nights, just to name few. They had so much fun together! Melissa was the perfect piece to complete Isaac’s heart.
Our hearts are broken; Isaac left a very deep imprint on each one of our hearts- so many cherished memories. We don’t know how to continue life without him, but we know that without a shadow of doubt, Isaac is in Heaven with Jesus right now. Isaac loved Jesus, he didn’t doubt his faith, even when his life was turned upside down. His faith in God was so strong. He chose to look for God in everything. He chose to look for the evidence of God in his life. Isaac loved the song, “Evidence” by Josh Baldwin. Here are a few words from the song;
“I see the evidence of your goodness all over my life -all over my life. I see the promises in fulfillment all over my life - all over my life. Help me remember when I’m weak. Fear may come, but fear will leave. You lead my heart to victory. You are my strength and you always will be. The evidence is here.”
It will be very hard, but let’s look for the evidence of God, when we remember Isaac.
A private Celebration of Isaac’s life will held on December 23, 2020 followed by a burial at Edrans Cemetery. Melissa would like to thank Dr. Brian Milligan and the nursing staff at the Neepawa Hospital, Kristi and Kirsten provided excellent care during Isaac’s last days.
