Jacob "Jake" Peters entered into the arms of his Heavenly Father, June 18, 2023
Jake was predeceased by one son, he leaves to mourn his passing, his beloved wife Mary, 2 sons, 2 daughters, 1 daughter-in-law and their families.
Jake was born in Aberdeen, Saskatchewan to Peter and Helena Peters on January 30, 1934. The 8th of 9 children. They moved to Manitoba when Jake was a young boy.
Jake was baptized upon the confession of his faith in the Sommerfeld Church at Austin. Jake showed his Christian faith in all his actions, he did not just profess his faith, he lived it.
Jake married the love of his life Mary (Buhler) in October 1960. Together they were blessed with and raised 3 sons and 2 daughters.
Jake worked since he was a young man doing a variety of work over the years, from riding the range, Bridges and Buildings on the railroad, and construction to name a few before he settled on a permanent job at Campbell's Soup in Portage, where he worked for 26 before he retired.
Jake enjoyed travelling, trips with Mary to Mexico, and across Canada, a favorite was always going to B.C. to visit their oldest son and his family. He went to Bolivia 3 times to visit his brother, and to Belize and Mexico with MDS doing volunteer work.
Jake loved gardening, that was his time to connect with his Lord, refresh after the day's duties and after retirement he just loved being in his garden. Bringing the first raspberries in for Mary to try, or bringing her a freshly opened flower to enjoy, he rejoiced over each new plant that bore fruit. Many a family member, friend or neighbor would exclaim and enjoy produce from his garden. Jake rejoiced in the seemingly small things in life, gardening, the bigger things, his family, children and grandchildren. But he rejoiced most about the greatest, his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We mourn because he has left this earth but we rejoice knowing that while his earthly body may be resting in peace, his heavenly body is rejoicing in paradise. Walking pain free on streets of gold and seeing his Saviour face to face.
We would like to thank the Nurses, and all the carers and kitchen staff at Third Crossing Manor for their great attentiveness, and care they provided to Dad.
Funeral services for Jake Peters will be held, Saturday June 24th at @ 2:00 pm in the Austin Evangelical Church.
Viewing at Clarkes Funeral Home in Macgregor Friday from 7-9 pm and at the church prior to the service.
