June 27, 1949 – December 7, 2024

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John Fredrick Richard on December 7, 2024, in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba at the age of 75 years.

 John spent many years in the care of the Third Crossing Manor and was eventually transferred to the care of Lion’s Prairie Manor where he spent his remaining years.

John leaves to mourn, his brother, Michael (Eleanor) and sister, Florence (Steve), his godchild, Cindy Weselowski along with several nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Alice and St.Pierre Richard; his sisters, Isabelle and Elsie; his brother, Adam; his nephews, Marshall Roulette, Shaun Roulette, Michael Roulette, Sherman Richard, Bradley Richard; nieces, Linda Richard, and Beverly Desmarais; brother in law Kenneth Roulette.

John enjoyed being surrounded by music, especially the fiddling tunes.  He enjoyed playing the guitar and showed a fond awareness of the Chinese Breakdown.  His favorite form of entertainment was playing bingo, eating his favorite potato chips and visiting family over a hot cup of coffee.  He would enjoy his time on the land hunting small game to help provide for his family.  He would best spend his Saturdays watching the Western Hour.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Third Crossing Manor in Gladstone and the Lion’s Prairie Manor in Portage La Prairie for their wonderful care during the years John spent with them.
