John Russell Spence

John Russell (Jicat) Spence of Sandy Bay First Nation began his journey to the spirit world on Monday, February 6th, 2023. John Russel was born on July 23rd, 1963.

John was preceded by his parents Abe McIvor, Florence Spence and Patty Richard; siblings Albert, Marie Louise, Greta and Geraldine.

He is survived by his sisters Audrey Racette (Joe), Doris Spence (Jeffery) & Betty (Charlie); brothers Clifford, Wilfred (Patty), Earl, Daniel (Tracy) & Clinton McIvor; close friends Joseph McIvor, Andrew Malcolm, Delphine Houle, Beverly, Sandra, Jane, Josephine, Maxine Denise, Roger (Roxanne) Douglas, Issac, John, Jarred, Valerie Campbell, Mary Bone, Jeannette Houle (Metus).

John’s life was playing guitar and singing songs. He was always helping people when they needed. He worked numerous places in Portage la Prairie. He liked digging roots, picking berries, playing bingo and slots, and camping out. He had many close friends who took him places and always visited him. He was loved and cared for by everyone and he loved them also.
