John Wall Obituary

John Wall was born on January 28, 1939, to Jacob H. Wall and Katharina Guenter in Rosthern, Saskatchewan. John was the fourth youngest of 11 children. He was baptized upon confession of his faith in May of 1958.

John met Susie at the tender age of eleven years in school, where they developed a bond which continued when the families moved from Saskatchewan to St. Laurent, MB. They began dating at the age of eighteen years and dated for seven years, finally saying their vows on August 25, 1963. They moved to a small farm near Austin, MB in 1973, where they raised their two boys, John and David. Dad was a grader operator for 26 years, proudly serving the North Norfolk area.

After reaching a really low point in his younger years, Dad recommitted his life to God and started his music ministry, recording his first gospel music album with his brother Frank and sister-in-law Helen. He really enjoyed when Mom joined him in singing. It continued on with several other groups through the years, until his early seventies, when he had a stroke which had him putting down his guitar. One of Dad’s favourite things was meeting and visiting with all the people at the gospel music festivals.

Dad loved his children and grandchildren dearly, and showed it in many ways. He missed Mom so much after she passed away in 2019.

After a short illness, Dad went to meet his Saviour on September 4, 2021.

He leaves to mourn his passing; son John (Valerie) Felicia, Hayden, Carter; son David (Sarah) Steven (Michelle), Josh, Emily, Serena; sisters Mary (Dave) Epp, Helen Arbez and brother Frank Wall.

He was predeceased by his wife Susie; parents, Jacob and Katherina Wall; sisters Tina, Ann, and Susie; and brothers Jacob, Henry, Jake and Peter.

The family would like to thank the staff in the medical ward at Portage hospital for the care he received during his last days.

Thank you to the home care staff and to Chris at the Austin Café for helping Dad maintain some independence.

Thank you to Clarke’s Funeral Home for taking care of the funeral arrangements.

We would also like to thank those who prayed, brought food, sent messages, and called to support us as we go through these difficult days.
