On November 10, 2018 Joseph Houle passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Southeast Personal Care Home. Joseph was born on the Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation Reserve during the war. As a young man Joseph served in the military police, before serving four years in the RCMP, later DOTCPS and Sandy Bay Reserve Security. Beloved by his large extended family and many community friends, Joe would belie his seriousness with a crazy sense of humour, but was also a caring, sensitive man. Very religious and spiritual as both a Christian and a Traditional Indigenous man.
He is predeceased by his parents William and Victoria; his first wife Lillian Beaulieu; his sisters Mary Houle and Frieda Houle and his daughter Susan Houle.
He is survived by his third wife Teresa; his brothers and sisters Lorraine MacDonald (Allan deceased) Ruby Vanasse (Felix) Angus Houle (Mabel deceased) Morris Houle, Charles Houle (Carol); his children and grandchildren; Alice Commodore (Jonathon, Susan); Harry Houle and Tara (Paulie); Sharon Houle and Lorraine (Amanda, Matthew and Megan); Kelly Houle; Belinda “Annie” Houle and Anthony (Jessica, Trisha, Felicia, Angela, Daniel and Tasha) and grandson Melvin Tait Jr. (Shania).
