Lena Schultz of Austin, MB passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, May 22, 2025, in MacGregor, MB. Lena was 63. Beloved wife of Tony Schultz for 45 years.
Survived by her son Michael, granddaughter Milena, daughter Angela (John) Enns, granddaughter Cate, grandsons Kasey and Luke, son Stuart (Amanda), grandsons Roy, Monty, Flint, Quinten and granddaughter Tamika. Survived by her beloved mother Mary Peters, brother Isaac Peters, brother Jake (Cindy) Peters, and sister Betty Peters.
Predeceased by her father Cornelius, and granddaughters Elianna and Eli-Grace.
Lena was born September 29, 1961 in Tillsonburg, ON. She grew up on a farm near Aylmer, ON. In her childhood years she was encouraged by her mom to take accordion lessons. As she grew older she started playing with her friends and family and through church. Her family began grading cucumbers and also had a tortilla factory. Lena loved the hustle and bustle of these family businesses. Tony and Lena met while working together. They began dating and a wedding followed on October 6th, 1979. Michael arrived in 1981 and in 1982 Tony and Lena established their family home, where they still live. Angela joined the family in 1984. Lena acquired her class 1 license in 1986. By the mid 90s Tony and Lena decided they wanted more kids. In 1996, Stuart joined the family. Over the years many trips were made as a family by truck and car for work and to see family in Ontario and Mexico. In 2007 she became a grandma and over the years welcomed 11 grandchildren. In 2018 Lena was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent treatment and surgery and became a breast cancer survivor. In 2021 Tony and Lena bought a camper. In spring 2023 her cancer returned, she was determined to fight to live. She fought so hard, and she lived so much life. On October 21, 2024 she was admitted to the hospital and was at risk for immediate paralysis. She underwent spinal surgery to stabilize her spine. She spent the past 7 months trying to make the best of her situation and to be a light for Jesus.
When life brought adversity mom turned to Jesus. Sometimes literally standing on her Bible, calling out to God, because she knew He is faithful. Lena knew from experience that nothing was impossible, no mountain too high and no sorrow too great if she gave it to Jesus. Lena will be remembered fondly by her family and for her love for music, flowers, gardening, trucking and so much more.
Lena loved Jesus and she wanted everyone to know they too, regardless of their past, could accept Jesus' gift of eternal life by accepting Jesus into their hearts.
We would like to express our gratitude to the doctors and staff at Brandon Hospital, HSC, Portage Hospital, and MacGregor Care Home, our family and friends, and everyone for the encouragement and prayer support over the past 7 months.
