It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leslie Erling Arksey.
Leslie Erling Arksey passed away on March 9, 2025, at the Neepawa Hospital at the age of 90 Years.
Les was born in North Lakeland area (Langruth) on January 20, 1935. Les obtained his education at the North Lakeland School and upon completion set out into the world in the banking industry with the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). He held various positions starting in Winnipeg (Portage & Edmonton), with stops along the way in Dryden, ON, Thunder Bay, ON, Strasbourg, SK, Roblin, MB and eventually settled back in Langruth as the branch manager. Les and Svava then purchased the local grocery store in Langruth and ran it until the early 1980’s.
During his time in the bank, he married Svava Bergson in 1958. They had two children Terry (1959) and Ronald (1963).
Les was predeceased by his wife Svava of 61 years in 2019 and granddaughter Caitlin (2009).
He leaves behind his son Terry (Catherine), grandchildren Andrew and Braden and son Ronald, grandchildren Emma and Benjamin, great-grandchildren Freya and Archer.
Les was active in the community volunteering with the local organizations and events in the area.
Cremation has taken place.
A Graveside Memorial Service’ will take place in Langruth on June 14, 2025, at 1:00 PM for both Les and Svava Arksey. Please bring a chair and an umbrella if needed. Refreshments to follow service at the Langruth Community Hall.
