Lynda Dueck Obituary

Lynda Dueck passed away peacefully at 5 am on August 3, 2022 at the Carberry Health Centre, with her brother Bernie by her side.

Lynda was born on November 23, 1962 in Altona to Bernard and Tina (Klassen) Dueck.  The family moved to the Firdale area in 1963.  As a toddler, she really loved helping her mom with the boxes , even though her help was not always appreciated.  From the time she could walk, she loved dogs and had a talent for working with and training them.  Her favorites include Chihuahuas, Terriers, and Shelties.

Lyn took her schooling in Carberry, Manitoba, with her dad Ben driving the school bus every day.

After school, she worked as a cook and/or waitress at a couple of local jobs, including JK’s in MacGregor and Memory Lane Café in Austin.  It was during this time that she met Eric Anderson in 1994.  They farmed together, selling finished cattle, for many years, near Austin.

In his younger years, Eric always said that there were three things a man didn’t need – a woman, a dog, and a car.  After Lyn came into his life, he ended up with all three.  In fact, they had 4 dogs at one time for a while.

When Lyn and Eric got out of the cattle business in 2010, they sold the property at Austin, and purchased an acreage West of Gladstone.  Both Lyn and Eric worked various construction jobs from then on, coming back to their acreage for the winter.  Lyn also ran the canteen at the Gladstone Auction Mart for a couple of seasons.

These jobs ended when Lyn’s health issues dictated that she could no longer work.  Severe diabetes affected her vision to the point that she was declared legally blind.  Then in March 2021, she was diagnosed with a form of leukemia, which resulted in several ambulance rides to Neepawa for blood transfusions and other care to improve her health back to where she could return home to her house and her canine companion Blackie.  The last ambulance ride to Neepawa was made in September 2021, and she was a patient there until April 23, 2022, when she was transferred to the Carberry Health Centre.  She remained there until her passing.  Her family would like to acknowledge the good care she received in both locations.

Lynda is survived by her brother Bernie and his wife Ruth, their children James, Colton (friend Kelsey), and Morgan (Allan) Voisin and their children Emily, Laura, Hailey and Andrew.  She is also survived by several cousins, and extended family.

She was predeceased by her father in 1980, her mother in 1988, and Eric Anderson in September 2020.

We would also like to acknowledge and thank the good friends who stopped by and helped Lyn through the difficult times in her life.
