Mark Wayne Ingimundson, 79, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. Mark lived a life rooted in community, kindness, and quiet generosity.
A lifelong resident of Manitoba, Mark spent the majority of his years farming in Langruth. His dedication to the land and to his work reflected a deep connection to his heritage and community. After many years of farming, he retired to Portage la Prairie, where he continued to live with grace and humility.
Mark was a proud member of the Lutheran Church in Langruth, and his faith was his guiding force throughout his life.
He was known for his infectious smile and playful sense of humor, often teasing those around him with warmth and good-natured wit. A kind-hearted Icelandic man, Mark touched many lives through both his actions and his presence.
One of Mark‘s most cherished roles was as a caretaker at the Big Point Cemetery. He tended the grounds with care and reverence, ensuring it remained a peaceful resting place for generations past. His commitment extended beyond physical upkeep; he also supported the cemetery financially through generous donations.
Mark’s quiet philanthropy reached further still—he contributed regularly to causes close to his heart, including veterans of Canada and cancer research. Though he never sought recognition for these acts, those who knew him understood the depth of his compassion.
He is lovingly remembered by his brother Ron and Ron‘s wife, Charlene; niece Tawnya Ingimundson and her spouse James Ray (their children, Aleisha Abeyta and her spouse Caleb Pender, Adam Abeyta, Daryl Ray, Jameson Ray and fiancée Charlotte Wansa, and Rachel Schalin and her husband Thomas); as well as niece Amanda Jewell with her husband Jason and their daughter Isabella.
Mark was predeceased by his father, Thorstein Ingimundson, and mother, Sigrun Ingimundson.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Lutheran Church in Langruth, Manitoba in the spring of 2026.
Mark‘s legacy lives on in the land he loved the family who cherished him, and the community that benefited from his quiet strength. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
