Norman Arnason Obituary

Norman John Arnason, husband, dad, grandpa, brother, and uncle passed away suddenly at his residence on March 23, 2022. His family and friends are left heartbroken.

Norman was born in Gladstone, MB on October 12. 1944. He grew up, attended school, and then farmed in the Langruth area. He resided on his family farm until his passing.

On July 16, 2005 he married Rhonda. They had been together for some time, and they decided to make it official. Together they farmed and raised Dillion, who they adopted and raised as their son.  Norman was an amazing dad. He was so happy and proud of the life they built together.

Norman was a kind and caring man. It took time to get to know him, but once he was comfortable with you he showed his friends as side not many saw. He was always available to help and also to poke fun if he had the chance.  He worked hard, but always found time to spend with his family. Most often if you stopped by unannounced you would find Norman tinkering in his shop making sure everything was ready for the season ahead.

If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Box 238, Langruth, MB R0H 0N0.

He ran a mixed grain and cattle farm all of his life. He had his John Deere tractors and equipment. Charolais cattle and his dogs were his pets. Especially his dogs, who somehow became semi- house pets before Rhonda even had the chance to realize it. They kept him busy, but Norman was not one to sit and be idle. He could always find something to do.

Each year Norman and Rhonda took the family to spend at least one day at the Gimli Icelandic Festival. This was something that he enjoyed immensely. They ever missed it. He and Rhonda also planned a trip to Iceland. They spent 10 days there touring and sightseeing. Norman was excited to let his family and friends know how much he enjoyed his trip and show everyone pictures of the sights. He treasured his time with family and enjoyed when even during everyone’s busy life they had time to get together even for a couple hours.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Rhonda, sons Dillion Arnason, Scott Gladue (Jasmine), daughters Pam and Susan, grandchildren Tyrell, Lucas, Tommy, Jackie, Nathan and Jayden. Brother Kristjan (Patricia) Arnason, nieces Jill (Dave), Nancy, Patti (Ron), Tannis (Dave).  One nephew Robert (Patti). Three great nephews Erik, Paul, and Adam. Three great nieces Teagin, Sarah and Hannah.

Norman was predeceased by his parents, Pall (Paul) and Kristbjorg (Bertha) Arnason, brother Hjortur Arnason, sister Olivia Tomasson (Arnason), Brother in law Harvey Tomasson  and one grandson Alexander Houle.
