Olga Friesen from MacGregor, passed away peacefully with family by her side at 98-years-old on September 4th, 2024 at the MacGregor Health Centre.
Olga was born in Gouldtown Saskatchewan on June 4th, 1926 to Jacob and Anna Schultz. She met the love of her life, Abe Friesen, in Gouldtown and spent her younger years playing wedding with him and two of their sisters. Olga married Abe for real on July 19, 1945 in Arden Manitoba and they bought their first 80 acres and a little house. Olga and Abe had their first child Margaret in 1946 and later moved to Austin where they had Toby in 1951, Ruben in 1953, Phil in 1955, and Ron in 1964.
Olga spent years helping Abe on the farm, she worked at Campbell’s soup and was a custodian in the Pine Creek School Division for many years alongside Abe. She loved her family and ensured everyone always had more food than they needed. She enjoyed fishing, baking/cooking, her flowers, her church, volunteering at MCC, and spending time with family.
Olga is pre-deceased by her parents, her husband Abe, sisters Gertie, Henrietta, Helen, brother Abe, and her son Toby. She leaves behind her children Margaret & Jake (Denise, Danette & Dori), Toby’s family Ann (Mike, Shawn & Greg), Ruben & Drene (Clinton & Rolanda), Phil & Nada (Chris), Ron & Shirley (Kalynn, Mikaile & Kaiden) and many great grand-children.
The family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff at MacGregor Health Centre for the years of exceptional care they provided our Mother/Grandmother. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to MacGregor Health Centre in Olga’s name. The family would also like to thank those that took time to visit Olga over these past few years, she greatly appreciated every visit and phone call.
Olga’s viewing will be held at the Austin Evangelical Fellowship Church at 12:30pm with the service to follow at 2:00pm.
