Percy Lloyd James Sutherland

With great sadness the children and respective family of Percy Sutherland announce the passing of their beloved Father, Grandpa, Papa, Old Papa, Beka Beka. Percy was pre-deceased by his loving wife Noreen Sutherland.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Marilyn (Harry), Garfield (Evelyn), Melvin (Darlene), Rick (Toni), Patsy (Tim), Brenda (Ed), Kim, Mike (Charlene). Percy was further blessed with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren.

Percy grew up and attended school in Marius MB. by Amaranth MB. and later married his “partner-in-life” Noreen Sutherland . He caught her eye while in school where he glided paper planes with love notes over to her. They eventually started a family before moving to Winnipeg MB to raise their children. They celebrated over 71 years of marriage and are now dancing in each other’s arms.

Percy will be most remembered as a good storyteller, an unbeatable checker player and someone who loved to fish Lake Manitoba, joke, laugh, dance, play the fiddle/guitar and, as a lifelong fan -  sing & listen to Hank Williams songs. Percy loved receiving company and always welcomed you in with a smile.

His life was dedicated to providing for his family by working many-many years for and retiring with the City of Winnipeg. His legacy of kindness, generosity and music “lives on” in his family.
