Shelley Fern Eastman, born December 19, 1965, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away on November 26, 2025, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Shelley was predeceased by her Mother Peggy Eastman; siblings Valerie Smoke and Jason Eastman; paternal grandparents Angele Eastman (Koko Nice Hair) and Clements Eastman; and former partner Montgomery Peters.
She leaves behind her two beloved daughters, Brittni Eastman and Lisa Peters; her cherished grandchildren, Jordan Eastman and Travarence Eastman; and her loyal fur baby, Daisy Eastman. Shelley was also a proud godmother to Derek Fleury and Savana Roulette and maintained a lifelong friendship with Brittni's father, William Stevenson. Also survived by her Dad John Russell Eastman; Sisters Tina (Jeff), Lavania (Morgan), Karen (Cory), Trudy, and Deidre; Brother John Eastman; numerous aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Shelley grew up in Sandy Bay First Nation, is a residential day school survivor, also attended Sandy Bay School and proudly graduated as part of its first graduating class 1984. Along with four best friends/classmates Lisa Starr, Cathy Houle, Rhonda Beaulieu, Roberta Riglin. Continued education at YellowQuill College, and University of Manitoba. Shelley spoke fluent in Ojibway and deeply rooted in Anishinaabe culture; Shelley lived her life guided by respect, truth, and loyalty.
A natural athlete, Shelley loved hockey and was the Sandy Bay recreation representative, where she started an all-girls hockey team Ojibway Daughters and also was a part of the baseball team Sandy Bay Featherettes where she traveled to and won championships. She was very optimistic, kind and generous. Shelly loved puzzles and learning, she never backed down from a challenge. Shelley was known for her generosity, humor, and unwavering honesty.
She respected Elders, loved children, and was a natural helper and reliable. Her spirit was strong and vibrant, compassion touched everyone she met. She enjoyed bingo, cheering for the Winnipeg Jets and smoking her kush, watching crime shows, dancing, and road trips. Shelley dreamed of returning to school to become a teacher and volunteered for local organizations. Shelly loved doing her own thing but was close to a few and making sure her family was well taking care of.
A fan of Tina Turner, she also loved traditional foods like rabbit soup and moose meat Shelley was outspoken, dependable, and self-made. She stood firmly on truth and loyalty, greeting everyone with a smile and sharing her humor freely. Her entrepreneurial spirit and hard work were evident in all she did. Shelley will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community.
