It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sonny Don Perswain at the age of 44 on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Brandon General Hospital while being recited the Lord ’s Prayer. He was predeceased by his half-brother Nick Meeches, his nephew Kordell Daniels: cousins Shoughn Meeches-Perswain, John Jr Richard, Shontaya Meeches-Perswain, and Eagle Perswain, baby James Perswain, baby Shania Richard.
Left to cherish his memory, Sonny is survived by his father Tony Daniels, his mother Geraldine Perswain, his sister Sunshyne Perswain, his half-brother Jayson Perswain, his half-brother Shawn McKay, his half-sister Malleri Meeches, son Andrea Lepine (Keyoura Lahowich) and granddaughter Anya Lepine. Also his nieces and nephew whom he spent much time with: Eden Perswain, Joelene Perswain (children Zaya, Zeden and Chance), Ryder Perswain, Emery Perswain, Sophie Perswain, Cici Perswain and Brennan Roulette.
Sonny was born in Portage la Prairie, where he lived for 5 years, 15 years in Brandon and the rest of life in Portage la Prairie where he resided with this mother, his son (for 2 years) and many nieces and nephews throughout this time.
Sonny was an avid hockey and baseball player in his childhood years. He loved playing sport selects and watched each game in his adulthood. He was determined to win even if it was only $10.00 and he did win sometimes which he shared with son Andrea. Sonny always had a smile on his face when talking to people. He loved walking and doing errands for the household like mowing the lawn, shoveling the snow and going to store when he asked. Sonny enjoyed downloading movies and sharing with his family and many other people to watch. Sonny enjoyed listening to music on his computer. Even though Sonny did not attend church he believed in god.
Throughout his adult life, Sonny had health issues but he continued to enjoy his pastimes and his family.
The family would like to thank the Brandon General Hospital ISU staff for taking excellent care of Sonny the last few weeks of his life.
